Our very large holiday house !

The property began as a fortified abbey in the Middle Ages. It later became a farm and vineyard, which prospered until the 19th century, then fell into ruin. The current owners, Thalia and Régis, restored the property and turned it into a home and artist’s workshop for Thalia and a winery for Régis, and a unique holiday home for guests.

The owners converted the southern wing of the building into the unique and fully independent gîte for guests. It has its own private entrance off a field, where cars can park. A French door leads into a large living-dining room furnished in the rustic Languedoc style. A well-equipped modern kitchen will easily accommodate the preparation of large meals.

The stairs lead up to a bright mezzanine, with access to five bedrooms. Three of these rooms have bathrooms with a shower, sink and toilet, while the other two share a large bathroom with a bathtub, sink and toilet.

A small building adjacent to the patio contains the sixth and seventh bedrooms, which share a bathroom with a shower, sink, toilet and washing machine.

A shaded dining terrace with barbecue and a “plancha” provides an ideal spot to dine al fresco at the large table, while the "morning terrace" is open to the sun, with a pergola overhead. The open gardens are full of wild plants, rosemary bushes, and olive and almond trees.

The owners, Thalia and Regis, live on the property. They fully respect their guests' privacy, but are always pleased to give advice and assistance. Thalia designs porcelain and stoneware, and Régis is a passionate organic winemaker.

Domestic pets are permitted (please mention same when booking), but must be kept under owner's control at all times.

The "gite" is equipped with bed linen and towels. A weekly change of linen and final cleaning are included in the full rental price but residents are expected to leave the gite in the same condition as found on arrival.
In the winter there is an efficient heating system in the house and a cosy fireplace in the living room. The heating and the logs for the fire are included in the price.

The swimmingpool will be open for all residents at Le Viala between June 1st and September 30th. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

In Lézignan-Corbiéres, 10 km away there is a traditional outdoor market every Wednesday, as well as all kind of supermarkets.
